Good/Bad News

Good news: I'm getting pretty close to done on the next episode + I found out about another contest it would qualify for

Bad news: The contest has an exclusiveness rule which means that I can't publish the episode until after the contest is over, which would be at the start of March.

I'm kind of torn here, because I really want to show you guys the next episode, since it's going to be awesome in comparison to the first. However, I'd also like to enter this contest; the last one proved to be a really good move on my part. I'll probably enter the contest, even though I feel like you guys are getting robbed by it. Time is a resource for me, but once I finish Episode 2, I'll do my damndest to try and get episode 3 out before they allow me to release Episode 2 (The order on these doesn't really matter anyway). In the meantime here's a link to the contest. Feel free to let them know how you feel about this exclusiveness rule.

Also, if you have experience using Faceposer, I might be interested in someone reliable who would want to help with the animations (this will help the episodes come out faster). I can't pay you anything, since I don't have any money, but your name would be in the credits, in big blocky letters.

That's too bad. But at least there would be less of a wait for episode 3

My friend, Mustang, gave me the link to your movie, because he is a die-hard fan of metrocops. I have great faith in you, so yeah, keep up the good work. The video is given a 5/5 from me. =)

Aw well, hey congrats on the last contest, I'm sure you'll do quite well in the next one. If I were you, I'd start scoping ebay prices on some of those prize items now so you can see how much actual cash is possible if you win (which you prolly will).

Also, what are you using to edit this? I read through all the rest of the comments and it doesn't appear to have come up yet. I might recommend distributing it in a universal format rather than wmv (avi or mpg), or you could even distribute it in .mov format and start a podcast for the series! You can use your university webspace, and in a couple years, simply redirect the podcast to a new location. I can help you code the rss and whatnot if you need help (I run a vodcast for myself)

Just another idea, the more/easier the distribution, the better!

Peace,
-David

I used Virtualdub and Cooledit for the editing, I might use Premiere on the next episodes. As for a universal format, while Xvid is my personal preference, AVI is just a container file. You still have the codec problem and more people can play WMV than Xvid or MOV. MPG is even more compatible, but the compression isn't the best. I don't have any love for WMV, but like you said, I want to get it to as many people as possible. I've graduated now, so I don't know how long my university webspace will hold up. I don't know anything about podcasting, but I should probably wait until I have a couple more episodes out first to make it easier to build interest.

Well This way you can release 2 and 3 at the same time, and possibly episode 4, so we will be happy. Actualy if you finsih e#'s 3 and 4 by the end of the contest, which you probably will, don't push them out all at once, space them out so there wil be less wait for #5, or by the time you were done with 5, it wouldn't be it's time yet so there would be less of a wat for 6. Or you could just sapce out 3 and 4 a little so there won't be much wait for 6. Yea, that's probably better

I had a long good strategy laid out but it didb't post. I'll give you the shoreter and better version. By the time the contest ends, you would have finish epidodes 3 and 4 porbably, so don['t push out 2,3,4 and the same time, spae them out so there won't be al ong wait for 5

Yeah, it didn't post because I'm moderating comments because I kept getting a bunch of posts by people advertising pharmaceuticals. If it hasn't shown up, that means I just haven't read it yet, I'm not using it to censor anything unless it's outright obnoxious, just means it may take a bit before the comment shows up.

As for the episodes, one thing at a time, depending on the idea, these take a while to produce and I've been slammed busy lately. I'm just going to release the episodes when they're done unless there's a contest rule or something. The sheer amount of time involved in making these is pacing enough.
