Wow, judging by yesterday's comments this was a winner for April Fool's. I tried to make something strange enough that people would realize it was a joke, but I think some people regard me as insane anyway, so who knows what I'm thinking. Since a few of you got pretty confused, here's a quick FAQ for you:
Q: Is Civil Protection cancelled?
A: No. Production is underway on what's going to be the longest episode so far.
Q: Will you continue making the Halo videos?
A: No. Trying to get 3 people online at the same time reminded me why I work in single player to film.
Q: Did you delete my comments?
A: No, but I held back the ones saying it was April Fool's Day to see how many people fell for it. All the comments are back up now.
Q: Did you stage fake comments?
A: No. Those are all by you internet people.

Speaking of the website, I’m leaning towards relocating the homepage for a couple reasons. The main one is that I’m making videos aside from just Civil Protection (though that will still be my main focus), so a different name might make more sense. Another is that I want to add extras like subtitles, alternate shots, etc., so more flexibility would be nice. Finally, everyone who’s helped me try to edit the website seems to hate using blogspot. I don’t have any definite plans yet, but I’m looking into different options.
I'll make another post when I have something to update, but right now everything's still in production.
I still find it surprising how many people fell for it.

LOL I wrote 3 comments complaining about it and later I realized "this IS April fool's day" so I started to doubt it. Nice job. Seriously, if you did that, I would pull out all my hair and start spinning in circles on the floor. I think I wrote the most passionate comments too :)

When I thought of you pulling an April Fools joke I thought for sure you were going to "Release" the new CP video but it wouldn't play and you'd get a bunch of pissed people commenting. ReplyDeleteLol I hadn't checked into the site for few days (because I am to lazy to subscribe and check RSS feeds) so when I saw that you were "discontinuing" CP my mouth dropped open and I was very sad. :(
Of course, my mouth is now fully reconnected to the rest of my face, and I will continue to wait patiently for another episode further highlighting your immense talent!
BTW: what kind of editing do need done on the site? I am not a blogspot guru, but I have done a little editing on the blog of my own, email me what you were thinking on having done, if nobody else is able to help you, I am willing to take a wack at it.

ReplyDeletelast anonymous dude: Yes, it's been over 5 months and it haunts me. I find it even more frustrating than you do. I've been incredibly busy and I still have unfinished episodes that I'm working on. I plan to make a new post soon explaining a lot of the delay.
Oh, man. You got me with that April Fool's joke momentarily, but I noticed a few things that made me doubt it. First: If you were going to go to Halo, you'd most likely get Halo 3 due to the enhanced replay features which would be easier for machinima. Second: There is no way someone with as much Source machinima experience as you would just suddenly switch to Halo without making any previous films with the engine beforehand. And third, the date was the final dead give-away. But man, you had me worried for a while there. Nice job!
